How Spring Cleaning (in the Fall!) Can Get You Top Dollar

by Susan Coleman 08/21/2018

Before you know it, we’ll be celebrating the end of summer with Labor Day. The months following Labor Day are usually the second busiest for real estate in Marin County.  The weather is warm but not stiflingly hot, the fog has dissipated, and routines are back to normal. It’s the perfect time to move!

Homes sell in an inventory-starved market like ours, to be sure. But selling them for top dollar requires preparation and skill. Here’s how you can use the weeks before Labor Day to get your home ready for the upcoming busy season.

- Clear out unneeded or unwanted items and give them a second life at your favorite charity shop.

- Give your home a fresh look with new paint. Choosing a bright, neutral color will make prospective buyers feel right at home.

- Catch up on those repairs you’ve been meaning to get to.Now’s the time to fix that leaky faucet or broken doorknob!

- Seek out the advice of a realtor or interview several.

A realtor will work with you to design a specific step-by-step marketing plan for your home.  Further, they can refer handymen, stagers, painters, gardeners and other tradespeople aimed at giving your home a fresh,move-in ready look, garnering that coveted top dollar result for you and your family!
